Rudismates needs your help, we have two applicants.

November 6, 2015

Rudismates has received two applications from sailing industry professionals who really need some assistance.  As there are two grant requests at the same time, as well as the fact that these applicants are in great need, upon grant acceptance for them Rudismates will be drastically depleted.  Please give now to Rudismates so we can continue to help these gentlemen and so many others that will unfortunately need our support in a time of great need, thank you.

February 19, 2014

Rudi’s Mates will be a platinum sponsor for Sail America’s upcoming Sailing Industry Conference, being held from June 9 – 11th in Charleston, North Carolina.  We are very excited to be a part of this sailing industry collaboration, and of having the opportunity to show how Rudi’s Mates can assist their employees when a disaster strikes their lives.  We appreciate Sail America putting together this important event to benefit the sailing business community; check out our coverage at

We have our first Grantee!

December 3, 2012

Rudi’s Mates has been able to help a rigger in Sausalito, California during a very difficult injury.  Mr. Dave LeClerq is unable to work as a rigger while he awaits for surgery early next year that will get him back on his feet and working again in the industry he loves.

Mr. LeClerq’s thank you letter, “I want to thank Lori Rudiger and the Rudi’s Mates Fund for getting me a grant of $5000.00.  I have been in the marine industry for over 30 years, but due to the physical nature of the work and a degenerative spinal condition, I can no longer work.  I have spinal surgery scheduled at the San Francisco VA Medical Center with a 3-6 month recovery period.  I am currently receiving state disability payments which will barely cover my rent through the surgery and recovery period.  Because of the grant I hopefully can make it through this period financially and return to work.  I think the Rudi’s Mates Fund is a worthy cause and I want to thank all of the people who made donations.”

This is exactly what Rudi’s Mates is all about, supporting sailing industry workers in time of great need.  We are so honored to be a part of Mr. LeClerq’s support system and wish him a swift recovery.

Great News! Gary Jobson and Leslie DeMeuse-Disney have joined our Grant Advisory Committee.

Inaugural Mark Rudiger Transpac Trophy Winner!

June 15, 2011

A new trophy in Mark’s name was introduced into the Transpacific Yacht Race.   The first recipient of the “Mark Rudiger Celestial Navigation Trophy” was Dave Snodgrass, navigator of Relentless 32.   The Rudiger family congratulates Dave, and appreciates all the trophy entrants who still take celestial navigation seriously as the important skill and art that it is.

The Rudiger family and Rudi’s Mates are excited by Mark’s honoring in such a perfect way – with the Transpacific Yacht Race, an event Mark considered to be a part of him; doing Transpac was always coming home for Mark. The Rudigers offer much thanks and gratitude to Stan Honey and the Transpac Board of Directors for their efforts in this special recognition.
